Devil Magnum

I bought an '06 Fender '51 P RI (CIJ) brand new in December '06. Only the second bass I bought new since '71. I was in Marin after a 1/2 day of work (final day of a job), and stopped by Banana's At Large (no plug, just where it was) in San Raphael.., and I played (mine) and the same year Gen1 Jaguar Bass. (in hot rod red). Bought the '51 P RI for a few reasons even though I really liked the Jag. Anyway - this bass reminds me of that bass sonically. No frills/no colouring, clear/crisp articulated tones, straight ahead, solid - bass. Isn't that what we all want? Our fingers, sensibilities and ears make subtle tonal differences of different basses sound (importantly*) as we want them to sound.

*we as musicians are what creates the sound - not the bass ... but.., the right tool for the right job?

@JIO : love to watch your build threads. Always great design ideas, most of which are to my liking, and even with the few exceptions where the design isn't exactly my taste (like the body of the devil magnum in this thread for example), I still appreciate the idea behind. It's the idea of a "re-design" by putting together a neck and a body that initially were not meant for each other, that intrigues me. Let alone your skills...

I love this Ovation headstock even if I'm not fond of asymmetrical 2/2 headstocks normally, but in this case there is something different. I was wondering what it is that makes this headstock appealing to me. And I guess it's that small bow and the end of the headstock. Cool design!
