DGCF tuning

I guess an old dog can learn new tricks.

A fellow TB'er suggested trying this tuning on my 4 instead of buying a 5. So I gave it a whirl. Took me a couple hours to get comfortable with the different open string fingerings but then it got pretty fun.

I've been playing for over 30 years and have never used an alternative tuning. kind of cool.

I agree. I play a lot of music that needs a low D, but didn't want to buy a 5 string. Dropping to D standard was a good solution. Plus, I like how the G (now F) string sounds, it's fuller and has more sustain.

I like the feel of the lower tension, been playing d standard exclusively for about 2 years since my former rhythm guitarist introduced it to me.

D standard is awesome, it's one of my favorite tunings.

I'm using one of my Bongo 5's in ADGCF. Very handy for those tunes that need the low A.

me too! now it's a challenge for me to play a bass in e standard.
