DI with a high-cut filter?

That being said, the JDI's "Speaker emulation" is much more transparent than that of the JDX. When comparing between the two, I decided to keep the JDI because of the larger freq range. The JDX sounded great. It didn't have the buzz the JDI had (because the freq was filtered out) and sounded much better with distortion. However, it's easier to remove something than add it back, so I stayed with the JDI.

I use a DHA DI box after my VTBass (i asked the exact same question a few months ago) - Having recently got a Little Mark II im pretty convinced that the VLE control on a DI would do the trick just as well. Almost tempted to get rid of my VTbass and just use the DI on the LMII with the VLE cranked.

So I picked up a Sansamp BDDI. It was used, it was cheap, why not? I'm not really sure what part of "speaker simulation" means "harsh treble boost at all settings" but I suppose something was lost in the translation between NYC and CA, which has been known to happen a few times over the years. I'll probably hold onto it and try it on a gig sometime, but considering it kills all my mids along with making my attack go CLACK CLACK CLACK I don't think that things will turn out well for me whenever that evening may perchance be. Oh, and the drive sounds nothing like a tube amp, even when it is plugged into one such amp made out of tube. The distortion is actually nice though, I'll give it that.

Conclusion: This thing sucks. People are insane.

Got the presence turned all the way down? The BDDI is clanky, which does make it good at cutting through a dense mix of distorted guitars, where it blends in a bit more and sounds less ear piercing. You can dial the clank right out on the VT Bass however with the character (clank) knob.

Yep that's exactly why I recommended the PDDI earlier on. But oh no, you had to go & get a BDDI...

With the PDDI I set it to a basically flat output & the speaker sim roll off takes care of the bumble bees when I kick in some dirt!

its all about the VTbass, I had the BDDI, i loved it, then hated it, then loved it, then hated it and then heard about the VTbass and got one instead. the bought a BDDI again and sold it a few weeks later.

VTbass doesn't Sh*t up your tone as much (ok bad choice of words, i know many many people who swear by this box, but IMO the VTbass kills it.)
