Double Bass Difference between Gallien-Krueger MB150S-112III and MB150S-112?

Anyone know the difference between the III(current) version and the one without the III - I assume its a "I"? The older version can be had for significantly cheaper, in fact I just ordered one for $450ish as opposed to the $700 for the new version. I've had one of these before, so I am pretty sure I will be happy with it, but if anyone knows, please enlighten me!

So far that is all I've found. Sounds like I'd spring for the newer one, unless you were going to use this one at very low volumes.

I think they upgraded the transformer to a Class D unit. It runs cooler. I've had several versions of various vintages and they have all sounded pretty similar. I have the III now. It does run cooler. Outside of that I'm not sure much has changed.

The Series III Microbass has a Class H Rail Switching Power Supply. But, as far as the sound, I can't tell any difference between the older MBS and the series III. Now if you go a little further back there is a distinct difference between the old 200MB (or 200RCB) and the MBE and MBS because the EQ sections are voiced differently.

I just received this in the mail. Turns out it was the III, although that isn't specified in the ad. So this is a head's up, you can get the Gallien-Krueger MB150S/112III on Amazon for $465 as opposed to paying $200 more from somewhere else...

That's quite a deal for a new MBS combo. It should serve you well. It's a go to amp for a lot of Double Bassist, since it's small, lightweight, and has a decent EQ section. If you eventually went with the MBX extension cabinet it makes for a fairly loud mini rig.
