Differences between Spector NS2A & NS2B?

I realise the NS2A has a carved top and the NS2B a flat top.
Can anyone identify which model I have and actually explain what part of the bass is the 'top'?

And possibly pictures of the other model to compare the differences.

I'm also having a small problem with the bass - I cant set the action low enough. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Think of it more as "arched body" and "flat body". If you look at the body on an NS2A (or a regular NS2, or Warwick Streamer or Thumb for that matter) from the bridge end, you can see an obvious arch. The NS2B does not have that.

You have and NS2A.

In regards to the carved/flat top, the Spector NS-2A has an arch to it, so it doesn't lie flat - if you were to put it top up on a table or the floor, you would see the middle of the bass would not be touching the surface. If it was a 'flat' top, all of the back would be touching the surface of what you are placing it on. Judging by the pics, it looks like a 2A. As far as the action goes, I never had a problem not being able to set it low enough - sorry.

Cheers for the info. I need to check the bass again once I get home.

The action problem could be solved by moving the truss rod, but I dont have a specific tool to use it :hiding:

Otherwise its the best bang I've played for 450$ to date,
couldnt be more satisfied. Thinking about upgrading active EMG's on it

It's a NS2A.

Are you just dropping EMG's in it and using the same preamp? I've been thinking of doing the same as I just picked up a NS2A (its my 2nd) and has the "Spector" pickups.

That's what I did with mine. Even though the Hazlab doesn't have a whole lot of headroom, it sounds great and the EMG's just clean up the sound. You won't be disappointed!

I have a older ns4crfm and PJ from Spector told me that in order to change my "spector" pups (p/j) to active EMG's I need to purchase them separately because the combo comes with P/LJ and he says I need P/SJ. Has anyone seen active SJ pups by themselves? Can't seem to find em.

I did the upgrade to emg's 1 of my ns2a's and kept the hazlab preamp and the bass sounds really good. As a matter of fact it sounds better than other Spectors(ns2 or ns2a's) that i had or tried.I have another ns2a that is about to go thru the same surgery let's see what the outcome is.
