Differences between Yamaha BB1025X and BB425X

I want one of these....the vintage white is GORGEOUS...but I can't figure out if the price difference is worth going up to the 1025.

I went on the Yamaha site and did their "Compare" feature but they don't have ANY specs listed for the 424 or 425 on their site. Does anyone know what the exact differences are between these basses? The only thing I can tell by looking is that the neck pickups are different. The big one I'm trying to determine if they both have the string through body options.

Any info is greatly appreciated as always.

Thanks!

They both have string through body option.

The 1025X has a few upgrades--it's basically the BB2024X minus the Japanese construction, and the fancy wood treatments. Nickel nut, body has spline joints, is a little more refined than the BB425.

I owned a BB425 for a while; it's a fine bass. Can't really go wrong with any BB from Yamaha.

Thanks for the info!

Now if I could just find a place to try one or both of them out I'd be set. The price jump for those differences doesn't appear to make sense to me on paper...but perhaps playing them would make it a bit more clear.

Thanks again!

I went to the Chicago Music Exchange the other day, we all know they have really high end basses in there. I was playing the bb2025x and thought it was fantastic, i turned the price tag around, it was the bb425x. After a day of playing the best basses on the market (warwicks, sandbergs, vintage fenders, custom shops, etc.), I mistook this one for one of them, It's a fantastic bass

HAHA! I think we played the same BB425X! It was the only place in Chicago that I could find that had those Yamaha's in stock to give them a test run.

And I completely agree with you. I was really shocked at how awesome it was. And I totally would have bought that model too but I actually found the BB1025X online for an amazing price so I decided to go with that.
