Dear Bass Community,
i recently switched to very light strings (30 - 85 Rotosound) on my Fender Jazz bass. I had to adjust the trust rod so that they don't rattle against the frets. When I looked at the strings on the nut I wondered if the grooves (or slots) in the nut were too wide for the light strings. This brought me to the above mentioned question: Do we need to adjust the nut or better the grooves (or slots) of the nut to the string diameter?
I guess in principle it shouldn't matter, as long as the string does not move in the groove (is that the right word? I am not a native speaker, but I do like "move in the groove" in this context)
What is your experience or advice?
Best regards
