Digitech 2120 question

I'm starting to play around with a Digitech 2120. My question is this: I know Entwistle ran it in (one of his) pre-amp effects loops, so I know it is possible... but the only input on the Digitech unit is on the front. This annoys me. Is there a way Is there a way that people typically accomplish running from the back of an amp to the front of something else neatly without having a cable hanging out or buying a patch bay and going the overkill route? Maybe I'm missing something here. It is, however, a lovely purple color.
