    hi,

I have p-bass clone from 70s made in eastern germany. it sounds pretty well, but ive decided to change pickup. Friend of mine gave me dp127. Ive wired it up as he had it in his bass. And damn it is lacking highs. Can this be because the wiring is wrong? I have checked now how it should be. it should be: black connected with white, green to ground and red to +. I have wired it like: red connected with white, black to ground, green to +. Is this the problem why it is sounding so f*king dull or is it the pickup? :)

Comparing to my older pickup it has a lot more bass, but wayyyyyyyyyy less treble and middle :) In other words it has higher output but it sounds like playing with two year old strings with tone knob turned half way down.

Does your tone control work? It sounds like your tone control is shorted out so it's always on zero.

    Those pickups are pretty bright.

yeah it works, i've tried :) I guess it must be wiring. I will rewire it today to parallel :)

Maybe my older pickup had extremely a lot highs so this one sounds dull to me :D

Check my older pickup on first song after intro with synth. I'm playing on alembic f2b preamp

The DiMarzio is wound just like a real P pickup, only it uses ceramic magnets which makes it louder and brighter.

Any time you install a new pickup you have to readjust your amp.
