DiMarzio Model J's in Cream?

They list them on thier website but no one seems to carry them.

If you've found them please tell me where you got them at. I didn't explore the possibility of ordering them straight from dimarzio, can I do that?

funny... Dimarzio was the first company to do the cream p'up thing back in the '70s (I put a pair into my '77 J back in the day) - - then cream went out of style... now it's back in. Why? Who knows!

That's where I got mine.

Do not attempt to remove the covers. They're wax potted on.

More like hot melt glued on. I had no problem taking mine off and replacing them.

yeah, i got mine off using a razor blade under the glue that was stuck to the cover then pulling it off a little to get them loose

FWIW, the All Parts cream covers I bought for my MIJ Jazz pickups fit terribly.

I've seen them occasionally in the last couple of years in mom&pop music stores. I notice those creme pups, as I've used them in the past.

25 years ago, I built a really nice P bass. Exquisite maple neck & board, ash body (candy apple red), and creme Dimarzio pups. The creme was a nice accent matching the maple board. That was a hot, thumping bass. A few years later, I acquired a '74 Jazz, maple/natural, bound/blocked (bone/pearl), and the pickups had problems. A couple of creme DiMarzio J's, and it became a dream bass. It was beautiful and the sound was off the chart. It is the #1 bass I wish I'd never sold. Those pups were extremely hot (high gain). I think that bass weighed 40lbs, but it had a sound that wouldn't quit.

Is it possible to order them directly or have the company direct you to a retailer?

Bumping this because I'm finding it impossible to find these. bestbassgear.com is now out of stock.

I was able to find one store that had them but they were located in Spain. Not worth it to order pickups from Spain that were manufactured in NY to be shipped back to NY.

I mentioned in an earlier post, you can contact DiMarzio directly. I'm guessing if no local dealers stock them they'll be happy to sell them to you...they're in Staten Island.

Funny - that's the only color you COULD get them in for years and years. I put them in my '77 J bass.

I actually ended up contacting a Harrisburg PA dealer suggested by DiMarzio support to special order the pickups. (I tried locally at GC but they never got back to me about the order....)
