I think you missed just about everything that makes this pickup different. No other P pickup is radiused. They’re all flat topped. Eliminating the sharp edges and the screws’ interference is genius as well! And, no more of that THACK sound when a string hits a pole.nice look!
other than that, I don't think DiMarzio has reinvented the magnetic bass pickup in any way with this model...
as for the radius, I believe it is purely for optical reasons, because you can still adjust the height of the pickups to match the fingerboard radius like with any other P pickup
IIRC, Billy himself is a big fan of reeeally digging in. Wrong?cool look, but if its all metal wouldn't it be one big magnet for the strings to make contact with, more than just separate poles..Some of us really dig-in while paying...Am sure you can adjust them lower, there are screw holes, just curious, would like to hear a demo
