$3450 Shipped Conus! $250 price drop!
Note this 6 string has a LOW F#, with hipshot to LOW E. That's an E below the E on a regular four string.
I am the original owner of this incredible bass (built to spec at over 4K retail). It is in immaculate condition. It's about 2 years old with around 5 or 6 shows under its belt. The HS option (includes Bubinga body and wenge neck and fretboard) was conceived by Sheldon Dingwall to capture the complexity of the "Warwick Growl" in a highly engineered Dingwall bass. He succeeded. This bass sounds absolutely stunning and is the *best* sounding rock bass IMHO.
- AB-HS XXX 6-String (low F#)
- Stunning Bubinga Body
- Triple FD-3 pickup configuration
- Black Custom Bridge, Black Hipshot ultralight tuners, Black Hipshot drop down tuner
- Wenge neck & fingerboard with side dots only
- Darkglass Preamp (!!!)
- Dingwall Gig-bag
- See link to brief clip of AB-6XXX played through a Darkglass pedal below. Note this clip is of an AB-6 with the regular Alder body (and...it is yellow). The HS series bass that is for sale has slightly more balls while retaining the clarity.
Some thoughts:
- Incredible punch, clarity and mid character with the Bubinga body, Wenge fretboard and Darkglass (!!!) Preamp. Note that this bass is a high fidelity instrument and with the very flexible pickups can produce clear solid low end for about any style of music. I've used it at church and in metal and rock bands.
- Fanned frets are pretty much no problem to play. I don’t have particularly big hands (sigh) but this six is not a problem to play. It's also very balanced.
- Pitch focus cannot be matched because of the extra extended scale neck.
This is a pricey bass, but the top tier engineering, amazing body, looks and condition, easily adjustable pickups (it uses a 4-way selector switch for quick p/up selection) and second-to-none tone shows you where the money went.
This bass is in essentially mint condition (very light scratch on pickups under low F# string and on the preamp cover plate). The body looks perfect. This bass looks new because it's built like fort knox and been gigged so little...I'm just doing a little recording and pop gigs here and there and this guy needs to be out in the wild. Please see pics below...they are so awesome I include each one twice (pardon my foot).
