Dingwall NG2 or NG3

Hi, I am becoming interested in getting a Dingwall NG2 or NG3. I never even tried one because I can't find one to try but I believe based on everything I heard and read that the model that would be perfect for me is NG2 or NG3. So I was wondering if someone can tell me the difference in sound that that one extra pick up brings ? Most demos on YouTube was done using NG2 model and that one sounds absolutely beastly but now that they have 3 pick up config NGs I was wondering if that sounds the exactly the same like 2 pick up configuration with a bonus of extra pickup if desired or these 2 instruments sound different.

The NG2 and NG3 have the same pickups and electronics, so the three pickup selections shared across the models (bridge solo, bridge and middle in parallel, and middle solo) will sound the same on either bass. The extra (neck position) pickup is only used in one selection on the NG3 in which all three pickups are combined. In exchange for that selection, you lose the combination of bridge+middle in series from the NG2, which many consider the signature "Nolly" sound.

However, it's possible to mod the NG3 to have that missing series option as well as any other combination of the pickups you want. Dingwall makes another 3 pickup selector switch with different options, and one guy on here had a custom 6-position switch wired up for his NG3. You can't really add any additional options to the NG2.
