Dingwall question-Dingwall answer......

The FD pickups are considered split coils, and are like little pbass pickups under a large soap bar cover. They are definately hum cancelling (incredibly low noise) and best of all they are passive.

I would only guess the 4 string p'ups are smaller than the 5 string ones, as Sheldon makes both a 4 string and 5 string p'up- so there must be a difference
A pickup that sounds similar to a Dingwall...hummm maybe a skjold custom pickup- i found it to sound incredibly similar

True enough. I find the Dingwall pickups to have a wider tonal range than regular P pickups, and they're more balanced across the range.

As much as they may compare to Pete's pickups, I also hear he won't sell his pickups unless they come attached to several large chunks of wood.
