Discontinued amps/cabs

For me it used to be the V4B till they started back up with it 6 years ago.

I have a Bugera Nuke that actually do deliver quite a punch through two 410s (8ohm). But most venues I bring my EBS Reidmar 750 (plenty of power and a lot lighter.)

The Markbass F1/F500 is probably the best solid state amps ever made. I unno why they discontinued that line.

The MB F1 is easily one of the top three best sounding bass amps I have ever played. It might well be #1. It is also the only amp I have ever had go into thermal shutdown at a gig - multiple times during a half-hour set. I spent more time turning it off and back on again than playing. Three piece band. You can imagine how thrilled I was. Sitting there like a dumbass while my drummer and guitar player carried the entire show. It finally stopped shutting off when turned down to the point where it could not be heard.

If it had been mine, and not belonged to a friend of mine, I probably would have set it on fire during the last song.

I'd love to see it reissued with a speaker protection/compression circuit that would just turn it down rather than shut it off.

Interesting post...with the trend toward smaller amps/cabs, I find people are impressed with my '90s SWR Baby, Baby Blue...tube pre-amp, parametric EQ, DI, 120 watts internal, 10" speaker and comes in under 30 lbs.
I tell people "it was small before small was cool".

Like weird impedance. The only way I could combat this is to lower the gain on my F1/F500.

There are a couple of ways to deal with that. One is you keep your old Goliath (and your old heads), which I did. The other is that you go on a years-long hunting spree for any of the Golight neo cabinets that they made before they died, which I also did.

3 15s and a 4x10. I'm still looking for another 8 ohm Golight 4x10 - if I find one I might get rid of the 15s. They all sound remarkably similar to the Goliath cabs. But only 56 pounds for the 4x10 and 42 for the 15s. I rarely take the Goliath out anymore, as that 95 pounds, boy, you sure feel that after heaving it into your vehicle.

I take my 220 head out all the time. It's light and loud.

Everything I play through is discontinued save for the GK MB heads. Which are a marvel. Great amps.

I also am a SWR fan. I have the old amp though (Pre-Fender). I love it. I bought it second hand and the damage to the front was already done but other than that, I love my rig. Old Carver below was given to me by a friend.

Genz-Benz made some great heads. Never got to try their cabs.

I got to run through one if their rigs at a blues jam recently. It was nice, but I think the Genzler is as good or better

Shouldn't we make a distinction between the glory of a hand wired tube amp and a garden variety early solid state that just happens to be covered in tuck and roll Naugahyde?
My first "real" amp was a Plush as pictured below. Still have it and it's worked fine since the 70s with no real issues.
A Plush will heat your home and give you a spot to rest your tired head, at least until it bursts into flames:

I had to chime in... I still have my SWR super redhead. Why? Probably the same reason I still have 7 guitar amps. Here it is. I’m only posting my fearful 15/6/1 as well because even with the Warwick head it weighs half as much as the SWR. And it delivers down to 30 Hz with authority.

I still have my Peavey Nitrobass head that I bought new nearly 20 years ago. Only problem I've ever had with it was the fuse gave out earlier this year at rehearsal. I love running that thing at 2ohms.

My favorites, some of which have been mentioned already:

Bergantino AE410 (own one) ... Lightweight 4 ohm 410 that works perfectly for me. This is my "big room" cab, as a few hundred watts into a 410/212 is all the volume I've ever needed. My favorite heads are all in the 300-400 watt range, and this cabinet is loud with that level of power, with great sound quality as well.

Genz Benz NeoPak 3.5 ... My favorite of the GB heads.

GB NeoX 112 and 212 cabs.

Eden WT30O/400 ... I still have a 300, though it needs work.

Eden WT330/390/405 ... My favorite of the old Eden heads.

Eden Nemesis 210 combo.

Original Acoustic Image Contra combo ... Weird looking, but sounded better than any combo they've made since, to me as an electric fretless player.
