Dixon guitar company?

Hi! Does anyone have any information on the Dixon guitar company? It's Japanese and they made many knockoffs of Gibson and Fender basses and guitars. I came across a Dixon P bass the other day and after googling and looking around for information on the company I could find nothing. I suspect that it was a "facet" of a larger Japanese company.

Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Here is a story of the man that worked for Gibson tryed to pat a design Gibson said no he moves to Japan starts his own company named dixson and they get popular Gibson finds out give a stop prediction sue and also Gibson decided to distroy all they ones they find since dixson was made by the hate of Gibson Gibson decided to whip them out of the from existence

I’ve heard it kinda different, here’s my take. Dixon designed the Hummingbird while working for Gibson. At some point in time, Gibson began cutting costs on the Hummingbird angering Dixon who eventually quit to start building them himself. He made some prototypes while at Gibson the way he felt they should be made. The reason I believe this story I have heard is because I think I have a survivor. Yes, apparently, he went to Japan to try to make it fly. Opposition from Gibson did him in. Seems like he didn’t own the rights even though he created it. I have and have had many Hummingbirds. This Dixon relic is amazing.Here are a couple of pictures. It is cherry sunburst, adjustable bridge, Grover tuners, a few nicks and scratches. The label is hand written and numbered. Says it was made in Kalamazoo Michigan, the number is 98369. I wonder if it was made in ‘69, not sure. People keep saying it was just another cheap knockoff, but I believe there’s more to the story, going by the quality of this Dixon I have. It is as good or better than any 60’s Gibson Hummingbird that I have seen. Bill
