Do bow quivers dampen tone?

Discussion in 'Setup & Repair [DB]' started by AndreyR, Jul 24, 2012.

  1. Do bow quivers dampen or effect the upright tone?
After all, they attach to the tailpiece.
PS, if you bow the tailpiece, you get a low A.

Anything you hang from the tailpeice will have some effect on tone, although it might be very small. I don't think every tailpeice bows an A, perhaps yours has been tuned.

Mine cured a wolfnote. So yes they have an impact but it is hard to tell what it will be.

On my bass - yes, it affected the tone and volume noticeably. However, YMMV (which is really the answer to any question).
