Do cats eat mice?

Had the pleasure of watching my cat earn his keep this morning. My girlfriend was crying for the mouse and I eventually had to flush the dazed and confused little guy down the toilet after he got flung into the cat's dish. Seems evil. What the hell do cats do that for? Can't we all just get a long?

I've never seen a cat EAT a mouse... but my old cat (RIP *sniff*) used to kill rats and mice on a daily basis. She used to bring them back and drop them in front of you, looking proud and wanting pats and attention. It's pretty funny really.

Mine has. He's a little too old for it now, but I have witnessed him eat mice, moles, snakes, chipmunks and (guard the children)...........baby bunnies.

Never saw him finish the whole thing, but yeah, he was eating them. Tried to devour an entire chipmunk several times, but I stopped him. He must have found a nest of baby bunnies once because he dragged home one a day for 4-5 days. There was definitely "sport" involved, but he was chewing and swallowing....

In my observation Cats kill Mice but they do not consume them.

I have seen the stray cats eat mice, even mice they did not catch. But most of our domestic (for lack of a better word) cats do not. They kill them and leave them.

All my cats ate mice/rats... they played with them, then ate part of it and leave rest for birds and such...

One of my cats found a mouse and starting smacking it around. I was pretty proud that he was able to catch him. Jen felt bad for the mouse and picked it up by the tail and threw it in the yard. I felt bad for my cat - it was his moment to shine and fulfill his feline destiny and he was denied. Now he sits in front of the cabinets for hours on "Mouse Patrol", waiting for his next opportunity. I don't think he would eat it, I just think they're hard-wired to beat em up and leave them on their owner's pillow.

My girlfriend's cat is a stone cold killer, even when it's not apparently hungry! Just leaves mices, voles and birds sitting around the front of her house having killed them and left them.

I should have added that the cat I had before my last one was a little sadist. chasing blackbirds and fieldmice all over the place. He even once left a dead mouse on the back step for us one day.......ewww!

I wouldn't have minded if I hadn't only been about 7 the first time he did it and seeing a little mouse all dead like that........I would rather chop my Shergold into pieces and eat it than see that again!!
