Do I have a junk bridge?

My screw on my E string saddle is moving out instead of the saddle moving forward before the saddle is maxed. How do I fix this?

If you don'y like your current bridge there are hundreds for sale on ebay.

It sounds like the pressure from the string is holding your saddle down tight, and that you're just backing the screw out without moving the saddle...is this what you meant? If so, try turning the screw a tad, then moving the saddle with your fingers...or, downtune a bit, let the saddle move, retune, then check intonation.

Smack the screwdriver with the heel of your hand, that will push the saddle forward.

+1 - well that's what I've always done.!!. This will overcome the friction between the saddle (or the height adjsusting screws) screws and the bassplate due to the downward pressure caused by the tension in the string.

Or you could, you know, lift up the string with your hand.... works for me.....
