Do-It-Yourself Bridge Mutes

I don't know if this was ever posted here before, so here you go....

My Jaguar Bass, which is set-up with (now well beaten-up) LaBella Flats was in need of a bridge mute to emulate that classic, old-school Motown-y bass sound... the answer?

Make-Up Sponges.

Two make-up sponges (wedges), a few dabs of Crazy Glue, and a Sharpie (to get the sponges to match my bass) and I can sound like Jamerson, Babbitt or Aston Barrett all day long, without much of an aesthetic alteration.

Just thought I'd share this tip for those of you looking for a cheap but good sounding bridge mute.

Good idea.

I've cut the ends off of sponge paintbrushes and used those as a wedge shaped mute (point up).

I used felt last time, this sounds cheaper. Great idea.
