Do not buy an epiphone thunderbird pro 5

I had a similar experience with the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro 4. I went through THREE of them, 2 sunburst and one natural finish. All of them had horrible buzzing from ground issues. I bought them through Musician's Friend as well. Customer service was great and returns were relatively easy, but it was very disappointing. I am now holding out for a Gibson Thunderbird or RD Artist.

They're not common like Epiphones but nice budget Thunderbirds from Greco, Orville, Epiphone Elitist, Tokai, Ibanez and the aforementioned Gibson Studio are all better alternatives.

This isn't a bass problem.. it's picking the wrong vendor.

Don't expect a ton when buying only on price.

I've had hit and miss purchases from MF. It took three times to get a good Ric 4003 from them.

Try Sweetwater.com they are much better for several reasons. (1) You can see high resolution pics of the actual bass you buy in their guitar gallery before you buy, (2) they have real customer service staff that will actually pull that bass you're looking at, review it for you over the phone while you're talking to them, email you additional pictures of the bass while you're talking to them, (3) they send the bass to their own in-house luthier for a full inspection and set up before they ship to you, and (4) if after all that you're still not happy when you get it, they have a full money back return policy.

I've purchased several basses from them (from Robby, see below), and if you want to talk to my sales rep there here is his contact info, he'll take great care of you:

Epiphones mid to upper line ussually has great Qc in my experience. But so many reports about problems with the Tb Pro both here and several other places says thats not the case with the TB pro. Sad. They need to recall the entire stock of Tb pro and offer refunds to all buyers and start over.
