Do you Google potential band members?

i dont like this kinda thing. AT ALL. i think thanks to websites like facebook and what not its too easy to judge people you hardly know. ive actually herd that some companys google potential employees to check there facebook and myspace ect ect. hence why all my profiles are set to private.

my friends have taken it one step further tho. they all use fake names.

We ask for details on prospective musicians' experience and samples of their work up front. I don't really do full-on internet searches on people, but I will certainly check out their myspace or web pages. If it seems like the person would be a good fit musicially, we then arrange an audition with some time for conversation so we can get a feel for their personality. The white supremicist story scares me, though. I wouldn't take what I read on the net as gospel, but I would sure want to know if someone was into nasty stuff like that!

To tell you the truth i'm glad this thread existed. About to go to an audition later today and I found the group through craigslist. AND its not in the best neighborhood. Now...thanks to background checks I am fairly sure they aren't going to try to steal my bass and/or attack me! Either that or they didn't give me the correct name..
