Do you shower with the water running?

I did a search and know this has never been asked before. Do you shower with the water running or turned off?

Ever since I was a little boy, I'm now 43, I've always showered with the water running. I don't take long showers, I'm in and out in 5-7 minutes.

I was at a friends house in Northern Michigan. I woke up and preceded to take a shower like I have been for the last 40 years. At breakfast he said in a joking manner, "nice of you to save some hot water for me". So I told him the same story I'm telling you and it got me thinking....have I been showering wrong all these years.

So I'm asking you, my bass playing brethren, do you shower with the water running or turned off.

I'd consider 5-7 minutes a long shower. I take 2-3 minutes, tops.

I don't know of anyone ever having taken a shower with the water not running...how would you do it? You get all wet, shut the water off, then lather, then turn it back on and rinse off? That's insane.

About ten minutes, water running here. I roll out of bed and get in the shower. Five minutes of that are waking up and realizing where I am, the other five are actually washing all 2000 body parts and getting out.

Water running the whole time.

At least 5 min for a shower, normally 15. Sometimes I stand there for half an hour.

Water running of course, unless I'm somewhere with a small hot-water tank and more people are going to shower after me.

So why would anyone shower without the water running? I guess they turn it off when using shampoo or something?

How would you shower without the water running? My wife showers in the AM, I shower in the PM after I get home from work. No kids left at home, so I shower until the water starts getting cold. And I have a big ass water heater. ;)

there are shower heads available that have a shut-off lever just behind the outlet. water temp & pressure remains constance. they are also designed to regulate flow for conservation.

i have used them in the past and it USE to be quite popular in certain demographics. it's strange they never really caught on! they were part of the Save Water campaigns in San Francisco in the '80's. :)

Never known of anyone to shower without the water running. Although I know some houses that have very little hot water and I can understand your friends concern. Perhaps what you thought was a 5-7 minute shower was a bit more.

Anyhow, I'd like to share my shower story, which I've no reason to share in any other thread.

I was once at a 5 day pagan festival which was clothing optional. Starwood, in upstate NY. It was at a campground that had 3 sets of showers. 2 indoor (seperate men and women) and one outdoor outdoor (about 5 shower heads with multiple people under each at any given time). Men and women showered together.

Sooooooo..... the indoor, private showers sucked. Mostly cold water, and mostly a drip kind of thing. No real force. Not being a run around nake kinda guy, I chose these less desirable showers. It took a long while to lather and rinse. And yes, on this fateful day I lathered up, hair, body, the works... and, the water stops.

It doesn't come back on.

I'm stuck and I'm pissed and I'm with no option but to walk about a quarter mile all soaped up to the community shower. There were all kinds there. And yes, there was an attractive woman or 2. I jumped in with them all. I was so freekin nervous that there wasn't a chance of any kind of embarrassing incident happening. Not a chance.

It was actually a liberating experience. These types of things aren't what most people make them out to be either. But that could be a whole nuther thread topic.
