Dobro Bass, Bridge issues.

I recently purchased a Regal RD-05 Dobro Bass and have been loving it. Though after playing it for about 3 days for about an hour a day a hideous buzzing began and i was able to track it down to the bridge. I took it to the place a bought it and they put some dampening material between the bridge and the cone cover and that fixed it for the time, but now it's back and i'm not exactly sure what to do about it.

I should probably mention that this is my first bass as well. that's probably where i should have started so yeah. Newb here.

But some help would be appreciated.

I should have investigated and researched a bit more before I posted.

After researching a bit more on resonators so i made sure i used the correct terminology, i need to note that the sound is coming from the tail piece not the bridge.

Also after checking out the tail piece i noticed there's an ever so slight gap between the strings and the contact point on the tail piece. So i believe that's where the hideous buzz is coming from.

I'm thinking i need to raise the front end of the tail piece and i'm thinking about using a thin piece of some sort of soft wood.

any suggestions?

A Dobro is a different kind of beast. Most of the mechanics are straight forward, though.

Make sure that the ball ends are tight against the headstock end of the tailpiece. That will minimize any vibration problems between the string and tailpiece. The second vibration place is between the tailpiece and the cover over the resonator. The best way to dampen the vibration is to pad it off. The pad must be soft. Try this. Use the fuzzy half of a piece of velcro. You can find it with pressure sensitive adhesive. Apply it to the underside of the tailpiece. (Thanks to Tim Scheerhorn for this tip.)
