DOD FX25 - sensitivity far too low...help???

I just got one of these, and love the sound. The only problem is... even with the sensitivity dimed, i have to hit the strings really hard to engage the filter (i play passive basses), to the point where some fast passages feel like i'm running in sand. Is this how they always are? is the sensitivity pot chirping out on me maybe? anyone who had this problem as well? Thanks in advance in case anyone replies

I had one of these and it was the same. Try a fuzz or overdrive before it, that helped a lot. Or a clean boost.

Also, turn the range up and try. if the range is too low, the sensitivity can be cranked without much sweep. With a P bass I found that sens at 9 oclock and range above noon itd be a decent sweep when I dug in.

jbed- nice, i was thinking of trying to find a really transparent boost to go bfore it..maybe that's the direction to go, hadn't thought about fuzz though...

jucas- i actually have the range pretty high already, that's the only way i can get it to slurp right now. never the less good advice! i mostly play on a j and like the volume knobs rolled back a little bit to fatten her up...obviously this isn't helping my case either, i was actually wondering whether a p or active stingray might have enough volume to make a difference

I have an Aguilar Filter Twin now and had a Pigtronix EP 2 and even they needed something in front of them depending on the setting. I think I'm finding out that I'm not a filter guy.
