yes, but if the bass you buy is active then turn down your pre a bit because it will most likely make the head clip, I know I own one.

Another benefit to having the low B is being able to play a greater range higher up the fretboard -- you can play almost two octaves without moving your fretting hand.

For example, I find the low F (6th position on the B string) to be much more handy than moving down to the 1st position on the E string, often.

ALMOST? I like the 5 because you can find the note on the A string with my index finger and play an octave up or down no prob. And I have dainty little frenchmens hands.
