Does a Guild Starfire II sound anything like a ripper ?

Hello ! I am looking for a bass that sounds like a ripper, and I heard someone recommend a bass with the Curtis Novak BS-DS pickup (similar to the ones in the Guild Starfire basses)
do these actually sound anything like ripper pickups ? Will I be able to do a kind of Ripper-ish sound ? if not i would love some recommendations in a similar price range. Thank you !

Ephiphone made a Ripper for 2 years...1998 and 1999 I believe. This had 1 soapbar and sounds great.

Epiphone then changed it to a PJ setup after, but of course different sound.

The Ripper pickup is a sidewinder. Similar construction to the mudbucker but way less wire, and I believe the magnets are different. An Epi EB0 pickup may get you close, but it still has too many winds.
The pickups are so weak that they can barely drive a preamp. I think what you're actually interested in is whatever pedal he's running to boost the signal.
