well i recently bought a rouge bass, and i was wondering if i was the only one. because i have not heard alot of tlk about rouge.

I own a Rogue fretless. Not bad for the price. I don't use it often but when I do, it does the job.
Every Rogue I've ever touched was absolute garbage. Not saying that yours is but they are generally bleh.
I agree. I've played a few instruments of theirs and none of them really stood up as even a good beginner instrument. My first ukulele was a Rogue and the thing went out of tune by the third chord.
Yamaha is one of those companies, like Ibanez, that can make entry level stuff all the way up to high end professional gear. I think a Yamaha would be a better bass than a Rogue would be. Even the entry level stuff isn't garbage if it's set up right.
Yamaha is in a totally different league than Rogue IMO. I've got an old RBX 250, which is an "entry level" bass and I still play the hell out of it. Good sound, solid construction, and the neck is butter.
My second bass was a rogue 5 string p/j. Not bad, I bought it because it was cheap. Ended up giving it to a friend who wanted to learn bass. After that I had three yamahas, a fretless, a 5, and then a 4. My favorite of the three was the 4 string. BBG 4SII I believe. I picked it up cheap because it didn't work and I figured it would be a quick fix. Turned out to be the battery wasn't contacting the poles. Shoved a piece of rolled up tape in there and it was good to go.
Any bass with a proper set up and care will serve you well. Go used, that way if you decide to upgrade you can usually get what you paid for it.

hazzardzboy, capnsandwich is right. Setup is the key. Take it to a good music store and have a basic setup done. Practice so much you wear it out and by then you'll have the knowledge to be able to choose your next bass.

I've had two rogues. One was a 5 string P/J and the other was a LX-406pro which I still own. The 5 string was good for me as it was just a transition bass from 4 to 6 strings. I would say it is a good entry to mid level bass. The LX406 was in a different league it is a very playable bass. I would say it plays similar to a mid level ibanez. BUT the stock electronics didn't work for me. I replaced the pup's with bartolini split coils for a carvin and the pre with some no name off ebay. The pre was really the source of the nasty tone. I play a brice now but I am always suprised at the tone and playability when I pick the rogue back up.
I would say that rogue makes decent basses usually at a good price and in need of a setup out of the box.
