Does anybody recognise this bass guitar?

Hi! Please help to identify this guitar...

Everything on this old snd strange bass is fabric, exept retainer, knobs and bridge maby.

Jazz body, Precision pickguard, Tele head, full scale 864mm, big tuners, wood nut, ceramic singles in hum cases, thick masive, maby basswood body, C neck with bindings, 2mm frets...

After putting P62 pickup, changing nut,

neck angle and radius, sounds and play great!

With those pickups, it's probably a 60s- or 70s-era Japanese make. Just a guess, though.

Yep. It's some random Japanese thing made probably between early 1960's and mid-1970's. Stuff like this can usually be found commonly at garage sales, flea markets, and the like for low prices. They can be fun to dink around on if they are in good shape.

Old Japanese bass with a P bass pickguard added for some reason. Worth kooky points if original, but any trickle of value has been cut off by that horribly bodged in pickguard.

Pickguard is definitely modded to sorta fit, so not original.
Based on the odd color, rear gloss difference, and "off" shape, the Tele-style headstock is a home modification, too.

Budget Japanese from +/- 1970. $45 when new.

I do not agree that the customisation was done. I have to say that for 25 years I have been dealing with repairing and remodeling guitars and that for 13 years I have been working as a color technician in PPG. Here are more detailed pictures ... No body customisation, no extra screw holes from another pickguard and the pickguard looks stock. Now you can see that the gloss on the headstock is the same as the neck. Paint looks factory... There are no extra holes below the tuners ... And one more strange thing: sunburst on sides of the body... Yes i know that the guitar was cheap, but it's just another pleasure more while enjoying playing it with i know i didn't pay it much
