Does anyone have any experience with NACA or APCA?

These are two organizations that book entertainment and other events for colleges. There are fees associated with going to their showcases. Has anyone tried it? Are the fees and effort worth it?

NACA seems to be the more well known organization, but I found their website was not very easy to navigate, and had a bare bones amount of information about the process.

What should people know if they want to join one of these organizations and go to showcases?

These both look like associations for college activity planners. It's not clear that either of them manages bookings themselves. It might be worth seeing if any of the colleges in your area belong to either organization, and what kinds of activities they host. You might also have better luck interacting directly with a college's "office of student activities" or something of that ilk.

Neither organization books directly. They hold showcases where you can perform in front of many acrivities planners at once, either across a region or the US.

Gopherbassist has it right. 40 years ago, I was in a band who would travel from Boston to the regional NACA conferences in New England/New York, the Midwest and the South. We would play for a half hour in front of attendees who were college activities programmers. Our agent took care of filling out the applications, etc.
We got a lot of work this way.

This sounds a lot like some of the folk association showcases the folk band I was in did back in the 2000's - NERFA, VERPA, MERPA (Northeast Regional Folk Alliance, Vermont Recs and Park Association, Maine Recs and Parks Association) - pay a fee (NERFA was pretty hefty), put up a table, and possible get a showcase for your act, and then hope people book you.

For the Rec and Parks showcases, the results were good - we usually got a week long Gazebo tour out the deal. We were in a hotel conference room, and we had a table for bookings, and we played a 15 minute set. MERPA was similar.

NERFA was the expensive one in upstate New York, with multiple showcases. We actually scored a coveted Prime time showcase which was cool, but I don't know how many bookings we got out of it. Again, it was in a big hotel area, we had rooms at the hotel, food was provided, and there multiple 'guerilla showcases' run by different folk organizations that we played at, and there was good opportunities to network with lots of other musicians and venues. It was a pretty cool experience. Our manager was there as well.

Each of these was essentially a big conference with a performance thrown in, so it could be worth your while.

Jump ahead to 2026 and wondering if this is still a thing? The promoters / agencies nowadays are looking for a promo pak and DVD (or other) with selected performance highlights...and they better be well-done and not just shaky-ass cell phone video. You have about 30 seconds to make a positive impression before being relegated to the stack.

These organizations hold live events with live showcases. NACA still exists, APCA as I understand it is new, or at least growing.

Alright, this is not what I had hoped, or even thought, that it was. It's just this guy saying "I'm super great, book me at your college!" over and over again. Nothing helpful, useful, or informative here.
