Does anyone make an 8ohm, 6X6 style cab?

Currently I'm using my head to power a "Henry the 8X8" cab. I like the way so many tiny drivers can sound, but the cab is 4 ohms and is only rated at 500 watts. Since my head runs at 4 ohms, I'm only getting half the rated power of 1000 watts.

So does anyone make an 8 ohm, very small driver cabinet? I have this vision of like... 15 tiny speakers just cranking out my tone. THE DREAM TONE!

I'm not sure I understand. Your amp runs full @ 4 ohms, (?), and your 8x8 is a 4 ohm cab, (?), so how do you figure you're only getting half of your amps power? It would be true that the cab is rated for half the power, but that has nothing to do with how much power your amp is producing. Plus, if all is as I've said, adding another cab, reguarless of it's impedance, would put you under 4 ohms, and eventually fry your amp.

No.

Your cab is rated to handle half of what your amp is rated to give @ 4 ohms.

Add me to the list of the confused :eyebrow:

What exactly are you looking to do ?

Your head runs @ 4 ohms, and your cab is rated @ 4 ohms. Seems like there is nowhere else to go.

If you are looking to add a 8 ohm cab to your existing rig, you will be running at 2.67 ohms.

No, no! Sorry,

The Trace Elliot uses two 500 watt output stage, and is rated at four ohms. Therefor, I'll need two 8 ohm cabs to get the.. so, wait...

Well, nevermind. Upon further reading it appears to me now that EACH of the 500w output stages can handle two separate four ohm loads! ... that makes me a n00b. Sorry guys!!

and thanks for the help

each would then have to be rated 2 ohms. 4+4 ohms on one side and 4+4 ohms on the other side.

or you may have just tied yourself in knots semantically with the confusingness of ohms. do some reading.

GEEEZ all you confused Guys, this isn't that hard. He has an amp that can run 1000W @ 4 ohms and his speaker cab can only handle 500 W and is 4 ohms so he can only turn it up to 1/2 is his logic.

He wants a 1000 W @ 4ohm cab so he can turn up his amp and get more smoke.

Whether you agree with the logic or not, this is what he said.

Anyway, the premiere cabinet builder of small drivers is Phil Jones. Everything is proprietary and expensive.

Naw, I've been reading the TE user guide. It says "Each of the two output stages can handle one four ohm cabinet or two 8 ohm cab. run in parallel."

I'm looking into Phil Jones now, and it is quite expensive. Does anyone here have experience with these cabs not paired with the Phil Jones amp?
