Does Anyone Still Own a Windows Phone?

After Windows cut support to their phones, I thought it would be a funny conversation starter to still have a "dying phone". Which was funny at first, but now that phone calls only work if I have speaker phone turned on, most of the apps stopped working (Including GPS, Uber, and most social media), and it became very slow, it definitely stopped being as funny haha.

If anyone else still has one how's it holding up?

I'm ordering a Google Pixel soon

All I know is that it annoys me when something is marketed as the way of the future by a company that has the cash for further development, and then they pull the plug without much fanfare. I think Amazon had a phone once. That's why I chose a phone with a proven track record. Sorry for your troubles.

The overall layout is awesome, not sure why they weren't as popular. And no worries! Was my decision to keep it to be a living meme haha

I have 3.

Lumia 640 and 950, Alcatel Idol 4s, all still working fine.

We don't do games. FB and other apps we use including GPS work great.

We're more productivity oriented. I have Excel, Outlook, One Note, automatic backup and One Drive cloud synced among a PC, Surface and the phones.

I suggest resetting your phone and restoring everything from backup.

Yes I have a Blu Windows Phone.
I was looking at pics today on it and found out I've had it 3 years now. I replaced the battery about a year ago. It's been a good phone, I like the format. The problem is no one is supporting it any more, just lost FB last month, many other apps have quit working too.
As if by coincidence/magic, I'm getting a new phone and have decided on the Google Phone also. I've heard a lot of good talk about them.

I actually had two Windows phones in a row: a Nokia Lumia 822 and and a Samsung ATIV SE. I actually really liked Windows Phone or Windows Mobile or whatever they were calling it at any given time. The Nokia was basically bulletproof. The Samsung was pretty nice when it was new, but after a year or so it started getting pretty twitchy. I used to have a lot of memory card issues with it.

I switched back to Android a couple years ago. A shame Microsoft didn't roll with that OS. I really thought they were on to something.

Apps is why it failed to catch on. You can't have apps like 6tag that aren't as good as the real thing. Also, how is a casual user supposed to find all the workarounds?

Lack of support for users and developers is why it never got apps. For example, they went from WP6 to WP7, and basically said FU to all the app developers that they had to start all over. Then they did the same thing when they went to WP8. And again when they went to WM10.

PLUS each time they told the users they couldn't take their phone along to the upgrade or use any of the apps. Basically, all the users were beta testing at a cost.

And every time it would seem like good news for a new app being developed, in reality a bunch of new apps had already come out on other platforms and you couldn't interact with your friends.

I was on WP from WP7 until WM10. I bought a Lumia 950xl on release day. After less than a week I returned it and switched to Android. The software was buggy as hell. I couldn't use an SD card reliably. I had to factory reset it in that week. And I didn't even have visual voicemail anymore. It was unacceptable for 2010 standards and I needed my phone to work now, not maybe in 6 weeks... Plus the end of support was announced back then, even if the WindowsCentral crowd wanted to ignore it and say nonsense about the internet of things, web based apps are the future, Windows as a service, and the universal Windows platform. There is of course a universal platform now...Windows for PC which went from am amazing piece of software to a hodgepodge mix of environments best summarized by the fact that now there are two control panels so that it is harder to find what you want to change.

Rant over, but my last experience did cause me to dislike Windows even on the PC.

Both my work & personal phones are Windows. I like the way they work.

Shame it's died as a Phone OS, but I don't intend to change my personal phone any time soon.

Still have one-an HTC HD7. Primarily used for phone calls (duh), work e-mail and texting. Have some issues viewing attachments to texts and receiving group texts. Planning to replace it sometime over the summer.

Never had one, but a friend who works as an app developer said they were an absolute nightmare to work on.

I'm currently looking at changing my from-launch Samsung Galaxy 5...battery life's terrible, it's overheating and, most importantly, I just want a new toy. I'll most likely stick with Samsung.

I did until I tried to link my Zune and the whole mess threw shrapnel all over. Now I use a cricket.

I still use my trusty Samsung Flip Phone. I only use my phone for phone calls and text messages.

I switched back from a Windows phone to iPhone a few years ago. While I loved the Windows OS (the live tiles are brilliant), the Nokia phone was terrible. I was constantly having issues with the hardware which would mess up the software. If it had been offered on more hardware with my carrier, I may have stuck with it.

I secretly really wanted Windows Mobile and Nokia to be a serious alternative to Android and iOS. Alas it was not meant to be. Lol.

I really like the tiles too, with all the apps dying on the vine, not that many left now. The Blu phone has been solid for me. The wife had one too, hers died because she thinks the power cord is the same as a lawnmower pull start.
