I’d love to get a more natural sound live and Tonedexter seems like a brilliant product with great customer support. I don’t have a project ready to play out at the moment but when I do it will be probably 50/50 pizz/slap. I’ve read the long Tonedexter thread and didn’t see anyone specifically mention slap. Does anyone here use Tonedexter in this manner? How does it sound? Any weird digital artifacts? Thanks in advance!

I think it should work as long as you find the right mic setup for the training process. What kind of pickup do you have? Really dark pickups like the under foot Realists will give you some weird artifacts.
Upton Revolution Solo. It’s pretty full-bandwidth for a piezo and it’s not on the naughty list. Thanks!

If you like the slap sound provided by a microphone placed in front of the bass, and you train the TD (preferably playing slapstyle) using that mic and position, the resulting ToneMap should be pretty effective. We tried it here and liked the results.
