Does anyone use mic stand mounted power monitors?

I used Galaxy HS4 HotSpots with volume controls for several years. I ran pretty much a full band mix through a pair pushed by about 240W total. I really liked the volume controls as they allowed me to turn the mix up or down as the situation changed. I don't think they sell the HS4 any more, but you can get the HS7 with a volume control.

In rooms with really poor acoustics I even pushed a little bit of bass through them. As you see they don't put out any significant lows. So putting bass through them just gave a touch of extra clarity in the mids.

I am sure they would have worked even better with an HPF and bit of EQ.

They worked really well for vocals IMHO, however, I would not call them HiFi.

I also ran some TC Helicon Voice Solos. From what I remember they had a bit better fidelity than the HotSpots, but they did not stay on the market very long. I don't think TC Helicon even makes monitors anymore :sour: .

If you are considering for bass specific options, take a look at the Phil Jones Ear Box. Some TB member have used it. Maybe @Zbysek will comment.
