A little confused as if this thing drops right into place, or needs modification to the bass. Im confuzzled! I have a 2008 am std p bass.

Does Hipshot BT8 need new holes?

Nope - no modifications necessary... I have one on my '08 Am Standard Jazz - it works quite well:

No prob - glad to help... follow the directions to the letter, and you'll be good to go... Once dialed in, mine will drop tune and return back up with excellent accuracy - I've checked them with a Strobostomp to verify... I have Hipshot droptuners on the above Jazz, a Deluxe P Bass Special, and a Gibson T-bird, and all 3 have worked out very well...
