Does Pole Piece "Dulling" Affect Tone

Hey,

Over the last few years I have noticed the pole pieces on my Musicman Stingray pickup have slowly changed from bright silver to a duller grey colour.

It doesnt bother me too much but I would like to know if it affects the tone in any way ?

You should be able to answer that question yourself. Has the tone of your bass changed as the pole pieces discoloured?
