Again, just because your MD didn't get it correct doesn't mean that our info isn't top notch. Glad it worked for ya, but I've seen some pretty lame and unproven claims. My info isn't necessarily perfect or won't work for everyone, but any info is tested and regulated, which you simply will never be able to say about Wiki.

No, I agree, medical text are far superior in quality and depth of research and understand than wikipedia. That much should be obvious. But information is information, and its rather irrelevant how many times it is peer-reviewed and cross-checked and how many double-blind studies have been done about a certain snippet of medical information - if I don't hear about it or can't access it, its useless.

Granted, virtually everything to do with contemporary music theory and practice on wikipedia is a pile of garbage.

No, because it's accessible in cases like this. What's easier to do-trawl shedloads of medical sites with some highly technical language involved, or go onto Wikipedia where things are clearly explained and laid out?

Yep this is the big problem - so a subject may well be complicated and difficult - that's why people like doctors train for many years !!

But Wiki makes things seem easy - and that is a bad thing!!

Some subjects are not easy - you have to live with it!!

I never really checked Wiki a whole lot for music because I already knew a lot of the stuff I wanted to know before it came out, which probably mean I'm old. The particular medication info that was presented against my argument was pretty laughable, it was if some sort of herbal hipster pretended to write a drug study.

Don't get me wrong, I feel the people should have freedom to get a reasonable amount of info, but something inside me really isn't a fan of voicing personal opinions to skew the facts. There's a fine line between a spin and making the info incorrect. I think the line gets crossed a little too much sometimes.
