You mentioned that you use a Ashdown ABM 610. I use an Ashdown CL610 (no tweeter,4 ohm, rated at 900 watts) and on occasion I will use two Ashdown 8 ohm cabs with various Ashdown heads(550 watts or more), As far as volume, believe me you will definitely have the loudness, low end clarity, even mids and punch that you're getting from your ABM 610.and the two 410's would be a little louder(so much so that you will notice)

If you like the way your Ashdown head sounds with your Ashdown ABM 610, why not check out two Ashdown ABM 410 8 ohm cabs.

thanks for the response Jauqo - I really like Ashdowns gear which is why I want to stick with them. As you suggested I am looking at getting 2 of the 8 ohm ABM 410's. Despite the fact that they will fit into the new car I like the idea of only dragging 1 to rehearsals & using 2 when I gig. As I said I am not looking, for any more volume - just don't want to lose volume. Will have to head down to the local store to try some out.

I haven't heard of bared faced cabs here in Australia but thanks for the suggestion billfitzmaurice!

OK so I currently run an Ashdown ABM 610 which is great and I really love the sound I get from it....

I just found out my work is changing car suppliers & my new company car will be smaller.... Much smaller.

So long story short I am looking at flipping the 610 and buying a couple of ABM 410s - I know the whole story on speaker area and that should technically give me more volume but I noticed the 410s are rated at a lower wattage than the 610....

So anyways does anyone know what I should expect? Not really concerned with getting any more volume out of my rig, just don't want to get less.

I use an ABM 500 head by the way.....

I know this will be answered in a round about way somewhere and I can search for it, however I am looking for some specific feedback on Ashdown gear....

Hey man - I think we have discussed the 610 issue on here before, and I am currently looking at doing the same thing as you - even asked the opinion of Jaquo in another thread (good answer too thankyou!).
For your info I did try out the ABM 410 at the same time I purchased the 610. On it's own it didn't quite have the volume of the 610 but was close, and had a bit more top end sparkle from memory, even with the tweeter off. I based my purchase on a number of factors but have since decided that 2x410 is the way to go.
The 410 from memory is rear ported, the 610 sealed which may be why the 410 nearly competes volumewise.
There is bugger all info on the Ashdown site about the 610, and it states that the cab is rated at 800watts, however on the the back of mine it states 900 watts. Neither here nor there really I know. I emailed them and Mark Gooday replied with frequency range (55hz to 10khz), but didn't have specs on sensitivity or max SPL etc.
i think the only thing that concerned me about the 410 is that the website states that the cab's frequency range is between 70hz and 20khz - I thought 70 was a little high but I have been assured the cabs perform, and with 2 in tow it should emit some wrecking ball bass volume if needed!
If I grab mine before you I'll post my findings. I like the Ashdown stuff too. It's just the right amount of vintage and modern for me and I think it looks unique to boot.
As far as the Barefaced stuff goes I've looked recently into the more boutique cabinet makers and whilst I am sure their designs are superior I couldn't justify the money nor the hassle of importing. Not sure if they have an Aussie distributor - if so it would be someone like bassgeardirect or Thump Music. If you're not a member already jump on to www.ozbassforum.com and have a hunt around.
I looked into GK (didn't like the sound), Ampeg (sounded good but expensive and cab was 4 ohm only) and SWR (again expensive). I know the Ashdown stuff and for the price the ABM gear sounds great to me. I owned a MAG410 and thought the midrange was a little too honky, but again at the price range beat the Hartke gear I had soundwise and construction wise.
