I play the saxophone and i am looking for a cheap double bass for praticing at home this will NOT be played anywhere but home its just something to learn on. Im looking for dirt cheap it dosent need to sound amazing the teacher will give me one to play in class and in concerts im looking for the lowest price possable please help soon.

Friend just went through this. A $500 Internet instrument was returned because it was un-playable.
IMO $900 to $1,200 (US) models can be found at some of the local music stores. I would not recommend going through the Internet and hoping for some great deal under that.

I dont have $500 buy a bass with im 13 i dont have a job and i have and dont have much money im talking rock bottom price it dosent tneed to sound good it also dosent need to be full size
Well that is rock bottom pricing I gave you. Talk to your instructor he may have some ideas. You probably will have better luck getting an answer you like if you post this on the double bass section of this forum.
Also talk to your instructor about http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/370695013493?lpid=82 the tuning is not the same as the double bass. Talk it over with your instructor see it this could fit into your over all plans.
Also talk to him about what you could do at home with out a DB in hand. Learning where the notes are on the finger board, some theory, sight reading, etc.

If you want to do this, look on CL every day for a used Shen, Engelhardt, Kay or older German plywood bass. Expect to spend $1500. While you look, get to work mowing lawns, collecting and returning soda cans, or whatever else you can do at 13 to make money legally.
Consider it a life lesson. When you succeed, you'll appreciate your bass all the more for what you had to do to get it.

im renting an alto a tenor and spending $80 a month on guitar lessons my mom said were not renting any more insturments.
