Some Taurus pedals have always been on my "maybe next year" list... I've got some MIDI pedals and a Roland SH-32 which does the Tom Sawyer growl. (I've also got a couple of Rickys, but not a big nose.)

Never got the point. It's purely for show, IMO. When it came on screen in This Is Spinal Tap I quite literally burst out laughing because it was so ridiculous. I can't see why you'd switch between a 4 and a 5 in the same song, or the same song would require differently-tuned basses unless you genuinely are trying too hard.
Did you ever see Genesis back in the early to mid '70s?...With Genesis, they were a little more integral....
