Double shoulder strap?

Wasn't sure where to put this.

Has anyone tried one of those double shouldered straps? I'm wondering if it might help me. I can play two sets with my SR505 with a 3" wide strap with no problem, but with my American Standard 5 string Jazz bass....no can do for very long. The weight really gets to my back. (Got arthritis in my lower back.) I'm still surprised how an extra 2 pounds can get to me. The SR weighs 7.5 pounds while the Jazz weighs 9.5 pounds.

Just wondering if one of these straps would help because I really would like to play that bass at times.

I've got the Duostrap Neo from Gruv Gear.

After six back surgeries since 2008, I was on the verge of giving up playing live because it was so painful.

The Duostrap evenly distributes the weight to both shoulders, plus gently encourages you to keep the bass in proper position, which translates to less pain at the end of the gig.

I'm not an endorser but I would be without a second thought. It has totally saved my playing career.

Thanks a lot, Rip! Wow, six back operations?!?! I sure hope that's the end of that for you. If the Duostrap made all the differance for you then I'd say that's an endorsement if there ever was one. I'm defiantley going to look into one.

Thanks again for responding and I'm glad it worked so well for you!!

I was just asking the same questions................I play a Nordy.........which is my baby, along w/ a Fender Jazz......and was just diagnosed with severe advanced arthritis in my whole back (from a car accident years ago). That pales with Rip, and 6 back operations.
Rip, thanks for sharing the info.
I really thought I would have to quit gigging as well.

Talk to TBer lomo. He uses some type of bass belt which requires an addt'l "receiver" to be installed on the lower aspect of the bass. Take a look at any of his "FS" threads for a better idea. IMO, sounds like a good idea for somebody serious about minimizing neck / shoulder / back discomfort...and I do feel for you guys!
