Downsizing... any suggestions?

Hi guys,

I am thinking of downsizing my rig. I haven't been on stage in a few years, and feel that my 410 is a little large (and a little loud!) for my current situation.

I currently play through an Eden 410XLT, but I'd like to get into perhaps a 210 combo. Requirements...

1. Portable.
2. Loud enough for small stage gigs if they come up.
3. Powerful enough to add perhaps a 115 or 210 extension cab in the future if required.

I've been looking at a few companies (EBS, Eden etc.), but would like to get some wisdom from you folks.

I currently play an SSII, but might be looking at some new sounds soon, so it might be a good time to revamp everything and start fresh.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't suggest a combo because of weight and bulk.
Since you already like 10" speakers but don't want to move a 410 any longer, I'd suggest "two" 210 cabinets powered by a micro head.
Use one 210 for rehearsals/small gigs, use both 210's when you need more volume and coverage.
Plus, with two 210's you can stack them in the vertical and get the advantages of vertical stacking.
My gigging rig is two, 8 ohm, Avatar 210 Neo cabinets always stacked as a vertical 410.
I power them with either a GK 800 head or a GK MB2-500 micro head.

The Avatar cabinets weigh in at 44 lbs. each and are rated at 500 watts each. Their loaded with the top of the line Eminence cast frame neo speakers and a Foster horn. When I bought my Avatars they were $319.00 plus shipping each.
The GK MB-500 head is 350 watts at 8 ohms, (one cabinet), 500 watts at 4 ohms, (both cabinets), and is 580 total watts at 4 ohms. The MB head weighs in at 3.8 lbs. My MB2-500 was $499.00 at Guitar Center.

I replaced my heavy/hard to move Ed*n cabinets, (212XLT..210XLT), with the Avatar Neo 210 cabinets...
Haven't regretted the switch for a second.

The Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0-12t sounds surprisingly good. Invalid Link Removed I tried one for a short while before I decided to stick with my heavier Eden Gear. It was a tough choice though because the Genz Benz really did sound great. Plus light and so easy to move. Need a bigger rig? Pull the head off and power a bigger cab or add a cab to the combo. Thoughtful design imo. Weighs about 31 lbs.

They also have a 2x10 version of the combo if that's more you speed. 41 lbs.

I'm thinking a neo loaded 2x10" stood vertically, such as an SWR GoLIGHT, with a class D head, such as a Genz Benz or TC Electronic, would give you a nice big warm yet clear sound that your used to with your 4x10" rig.
