DP Customs???

Don't.

Search "Pushic" and you'll come up with a pretty large number of threads about him. There are maybe half a dozen people on this forum that are happy with their DPs (I can think of like, four, but I'm rounding here)...and more than two dozen that have had serious issues, both cosmetic and structural. And not like, "high fret" or "poorly cut nut" issues.

Hello out there,
I was wondering if anybody out there in TB land is familiar with Dave Pushic custom basses and guitars??? Do any of you guys one his basses??? If so how do they play??? You know that sort of thing....

Please let me know

i have two of them and overall am very happy with them. there are issues with both though. first i bought a fretless 6 from mr. pushic about august 06. beautiful bass with quilted maple top. looks and plays like a dream, but, one of the volume pots crapped out shortly after buying it. and a crack developed from the cavity ( looks like from a screw hole gone bad ) he fixed both free of charge of course and i love the bass dearly.

the other i just got a month or so ago, a fretted 4, and again looks and plays awsome, but again has issues. cosmetic . doesn't affect playability. but you should be aware that you get what you pay for in this world. more or less.;)

Awesome basses. I have had two built and he is building a third one right now. This one is my ultimate. I speced it out on Alembics site and it would have been over $15K Dave is doing it for under $2K. Is it an Alembic? ...not even close but neither is the price. Will it have the sound I want? Of course , it has Alembic pups and electronics. I can put up with any flaws there may be. The last two he built were not perfect but were the best value in basses that I ever bought. I have been playing over 35 years and have owned the 60s Fenders a 70s Ric several Gibsons and many other mid priced basses. I have played several high end basses. Dave's work compares favorably with all of them and beats many of them. For the price you can't go wrong. He gives you what you want. But you need to know what you want.

I agree with some of the other posts. Neck a lil thick and some cosmetic issues(minor). Outside of that a very sound bass and very good sounding bass especially at the price points. His basses hold their own tonally with any other bass. Ask him specific questions and spec your neck; it was my first custom. He answers all questions in a timely fashion.
