Double Bass DPA Placement/Setup

Hey all,
I finally dropped the cash for a DPA and have found that I can actually use it live if I'm not in a tiny room with lots of sound pressure. I'm not figuring out a great solution for dealing with the cable and jack. Any recommendations for mounting this like a pickup? Is there a shorter cable available that may be more robust?

This is what I have so far. Not liking it at all. Notice that within one week I lost the 45 dollar rubber mount. The $15 one on Amazon actually works fine for a replacement but you have to put it between 2 strings instead of the outer strings.

Here’s how I do it. A pipe clamp around the xlr jack, with a couple of o rings to secure the (looped up) cable to the jack. This is one of the first gen DPAs, and this setup has worked for at least 10 years.

You should remove the mic when not using it and let the rubber mount rest. Otherwise it will lose its springiness over time. I take mine off and put it in the mic locker, to avoid humidity damage.
