Dr hi beams issue

So about 3-4 weeks ago I took off my prosteels and put on a pair of hi beams. I absolutely love the sound and tension compared to the prosteels or any other string I’ve played for that matter. The issue is every time I get my bass out and go to tune, the strings go a little sharp, i didn’t have this with the prosteels and have never had this problem before, flat if anything so I’m confident it’s not my truss rod or action, and I know I crimped the strings right, any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

Going from hex core to round core, did you make sure to check the intonation and adjust it accordingly?

Also, make sure the witness points are properly set.

Thanks for the reply, the intonation is spot on, and I’ve never heard of witness points until now, but after reading some threads on witness points and checking my bass, I think they’re all good, i will check the bass again tonight after work.

Before I knew anything about "witness point", I would simply install the new strings, tune them up to pitch and let them sit. Then I would keep wondering why I had to keep tuning them for the first day or two. Once I learned how to set witness points properly as part of any string change, I found out the new strings would stay in tune a lot better.

Is the humidity/temperature in your area changing at the moment? The change from a dry winter climate to a wet summer climate can definitely make a bass behave like that, especially if it's a slim neck with no extra stiffening bars. The solution to this would be a humidifier during the dry winter months.

But then again, it might be something else entirely...

My basses do that all the time. Going sharp instead of flat after playing.
I think it has to do with the string in the nut slot getting slightly stuck at times while playing ?
Some suggest graphite lubricant for the nut

I also never stretch my strings to seat and stabilize them.
It takes a while for them to become stabile tuning wise but they seem to last longer

It's so humid here in the Northeast right now. my strings were sharp too today. My fence gate grew too large to close properly also.

So after setting the witness points it seems my problem is solved, no more going sharp, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, and while yes I thought it was humidity at first too, it was happening before it got humid here in PA, and I’ve had the AC on pretty much the whole time in the room my bass stays in.
