DR round core Stiffness

I noticed that the sunbeams had less stiffness than the hibeams
What about Pureblues and Fatbeams?
Can anyone help me sort them in stiffness order?

On two jazz bass and a Yamaha BB
I feel difference in stiffness between hi beams and sunbeams, so I prefer hi beams for the feel on my right hand but love the warm sound of the Sunbeams
So if Pure Blues are little more stiff it must be a good thing

I can't tell you about comparative stiffness, but I have DR Sunbeams on my two Jazz basses and haven't considered anything else. I had DR Pure Blues for awhile on my Yamaha TRBX605 and liked them, but the 605 is way different than a BB (and my 605 has been strung with Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats for awhile now). While bass strings are expensive the only way to know is to try as nobody knows what music you play, how your human interface contributes to the sound and feel and how it all is heard through YOUR amp. But I think you should like the Sunbeams on the Jazz basses. Maybe try Sunbeams on one and Pure Blues on the other for comparison?

Ya know, I've been a DR fan for a long time. But recently the cheapskate in me started using regular Ernie Ball Slinkys on my BTB675 and Ibanez 6 string and I like them a lot. I used to have NYXL's on my BTB675. I'd not tried the Slinkys on my jazz basses and if I didn't like the Sunbeams so well the next set I'd try would be the Slinkys. Just sayin'.

Regardless of brand, hex core strings will have a stiffer feel than round core. The hexagonal core wire grips the wrap wire which makes the string less resilient than a round core string.

Not always... There are other factors in terms of construction that can affect the stiffness/flexibility.

For example, GHS Round Core Boomers 45-105 vs. Dunlop Super Bright Nickels 45-105 (hex core)... The Dunlop SBN are noticeably more flexible than the GHS RCB due to the smaller diameter of the core wire despite the fact it's hex.

But Hibeams have a very good string to string balance
