Dr sunbeams med-light or light gauge?

I finally got the dr sunbeam 40-100 and had the tech set it up with a nice low action. Really liking them , like the sound and much easier on my arthritis than the 45-105 set.

Anybody ever try the Ghs pressurewound light gauge ? I wonder how they would feel in tension compared to a medium or medium/light round wound string?

I use the PW 40-96 set on one of my J's. They feel similar to hex-core roundwound of 40-100 in terms of stiffness. Definitely stiffer than the DR Sunbeams 40-100.

Seems to me the clanking is more a consequence of technique and eq rather than the string.

A lower action can be had with a stiffer string, clank can be retained or eliminated, as desired, by the setup.

Thanks for all the advice, it all helps. My other p bass has a very low action with Labella low tension flats and has no fret buzz, fret clank, etc and these strings are not very stiff, at least I don’t think so. I guess maybe just because there flats not rounds .

I played Sunbeam 45-100 for close to 20 years on my old Jazz Bass. That’s still the gauge I prefer, though I like the 45-105 too.
