Likely it's because he knows how to work with the SVT's EQ section and it plays well with his bass. As I've mentioned in another thread Drew isScott Colley played around here a few years ago and he used my GK 800RB that I had stored in my closet. It was his preferred amp. I didn't get it. I A-B'd it with my other amps and it had as much depth as a piece of paper in comparison. He wanted it though. It went back into the closet after that.
Drew wants an SVT with a 2 12 cab?!? Geez. He's such a great player. Why would he want a rock and roll rig?

a amp dejour guy and a bass dejour guy. He's not in the enviable position of someone like John Pattitucci or Christian McBride. These days most touring bassists use whatever's available on site. Larry Grenadier brings a Schoeps CM6MK41 and a Grace Felix into an powered speaker that's elevated up to ear level. He's usually able to bring his own instrument but I know for a fact he's used Danny Ziemann's Bass at clubs in Germany. Just a guess but if Scott was a frequent GK 200MB devotee when everybody used one he got use to it's DB friendly EQ section the 800 RB was the last GK amplifier that had that EQ Voicing until they discontinued it. Just my take on all of this stuff however.
