"Drop D" all 4 strings

I have one bass that is DGCF and the rest is tuned EADG. I'm 4-string ans 34" only. I went to a slightly thinker gauge of strings in order to get about the same tension for the DGCF bass.

So I simply switch basses no capo for me¨

I use GHS Boomers: .045-.105 for E std. and .050-.115 for D std.

For awhile I had one of my fives tuned in D standard but, with a high B flat (instead of a C). I really loved the way the strings felt. I was using Dadario 35-105.

My other five is currently strung with piccolo strings and tuned down two whole steps (thanks Manring) and I really love it.
