Dual Amps Setup, bass + guitar?

I have a Hartke 2500 with 400Watt 4x10 on bass, and a Crate Club 50 all-tube on guitar. I hate losing low end body by running effects but I'd like the option, so I'm wondering if it's possible to simultaneously run through BOTH amps, using the guitar amp for highs/effects and bass amp for clean lows, and what a good procedure for doing this could be?

I would think you'd want a crossover to split the signal, lows to your bass amp, highs with effects to the guitar amp. Balance the signal with the volume controls.

Ahh, I should mention that the crate is a combo—I'm wondering if I can run through both cabs essentially and if they will interfere with each other, or if I'd be risking blowing the guitar cab even if I drop out the lows on the guitar amp.

Just use an A/B/Y pedal. You can run bass into your guitar amp fine, just dial it in.
